I am unsure on the differences between a fetish and paraphilias, but according to this Wikipedia list, my foot fetish is a paraphilia: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_paraphilias

In which case I can say that I am in my mid 20's and my fetish for women's feet has only recently emerged. I don't know of any reasons why, all I can say is that one day I just started to find them beautiful, where before I had no appreciation for them.

So it most likely developes when you were younger as the result of sexualizing something that most wouldnt find normal. Is that right?

In my case,my paraphilia is based around a trigger object that was commonplace when my paraphilia began, but not so nowadays.
It first developed around about the time I was 11,which seems to tally with the established facts.
But, before that I was introduced to the concept of the damsel in distress. An early exposure to the fetish of bondage. Though not BDSM, which has no real appeal for me in the broader sense of what most laymen consider to be "Bondage".
Over a very short space of time the Trigger at the heart of the Paraphilia became one with the fetish. Which became more about being tied up as opposed to others. Resulting in a fusion of two deeply rooted and potent conditions.

I realized I was a pedophile / different than others at the age of 12.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Below is the only photograph of my "Trigger" that I have managed to find on the net that best shows off the correct relative shape, size and dimensions of the object in question.
Some considerable time ago I once sat next to a woman on a bus wearing a ring like this, and immediately became aroused by it, whilst imagining being tied up by her.
The arousal over the ring being the paraphilia aspect to my condition and the being tied up part, the fetish angle.
I have been this way since the seventies and this forum has proved to be the only place to admit to any of it, and I am grateful for that.

Yes, that's how it usually occurs. My paraphilia started at age 8 with exhibitionism as the first phase after being in a class with a boy who was always showing his underwear by having his pants slide down everyday and at first I negatively judged this boy but it soon turned into being jealous of him. I was jealous that he was getting to expose and humiliate himself in front of other people and that night I went home and stripped off all of my clothes at the dinner table in front of my parents and older sister. Exhibitionism evolved over the years into a love of masochism/humiliation.
