I wanted to ask the people here how many think Partialism should remain classified as a paraphilia, because the DMV-5 makes it out as if somebody who is attracted to individual body parts, such as breasts and feet, are mentally ill...
""Official Criteria:
The diagnostic criteria of the DSM-IV-TR are that the individual has experienced intense sexual urges, arousal or behaviour involving specific body parts for at least six months. The individual must experience either personal distress over the behaviour and/or social or occupational impairment.""

I think much of the point here is that there needs to be distress. If someone in sincerely distressed and finding life difficult, I think it would be appropriate to diagnose it. If someone is not distressed by their sexual interest (such a any "normal man" being attracted to breasts is unlikely to experience) they do not fit the criteria and thus should not be diagnosed.
Just my $0.2 though.

Yeah, this is why I'm liking the DSM-5 so far. For the most part. I still don't know why sadism and masochism are listed as their own separate disorders, considering these are normal sexual practices in the BDSM community, but I guess they'll catch up by the next revision.

If you are happily a part of the BDSM community you would not receive a diagnosis (unless you're with an incompetent psych which is its own problem) due to being content with your situation. If your sexuality and wants give you "significant distress" however, that is a problem. One could say the cure would be to accept ones feelings even (and finding healthy outlets)
