Is it pedophilia if you fantasize you are the child?

I'm not a pedophile but I'm curious if a person would still be considered a pedophile if in their sexual fantasies they imagined that they were the child and an adult was having sex with them? Because personally I wouldn't consider that pedophilia, to me pedophilia requires an adult instigator of the sexual activity.

A few years ago there was a legality controversy on a paraphilic infantilism story website with the U.S. government considering many of the stories to be pedophilia even though the readers were imagining themselves as the child being sexually used by adults.

If you're an adult having sexual experiences with a legal-minor it's statutory rape. What's going on in your head doesn't enter into it. As to what it's called, that too doesn't matter. Call it flamingo dancing if you want. Might well be some psychological term for it, victimization projection or something, but what the label term for it is doesn't ultimately matter.

It doesn't matter, but it helps to ease his mind. It would never fit into statutory rape because if he's conscious enough and mature, as well as over the age of consent to know what sex is than he can do what he wants to himself. A child of course, would most likely not fantasize about having sex with an adult. That's what would keep him out of legal troubles, were his fantasy become true.

I think what he is saying is he imagines sex with an adult playing the role of a child. Wanting to be a child is an age regression fantasy and it isn't pedophilia. I have a fetish of being diapered like a baby and a fetish of being spanked by an authority figure with me playing the part of a little boy being disciplined.

I love kids, but I am not interested in having sexual contact with them, so that makes me not a pedophile. I think maybe you can find someone who is into that kind of role play if you're into any kind of submission fantasies. There are things like tickle torture or school child role play that you might like.

No, it's not pedophilia.
It is called autopedophilia, but in the sense that you imagine being a child having a relationship with an adult, but it's not like you think about children sexually because YOU want to have relationships with them. The way you identify yourself counts a lot in reality, in fantasies, in sexuality. It does matter.

I'm one of these too, I've found that reversing a pedophilic fantasy into an autopedophilic fantasy is way more practical and sexually fulfilling since I don't have to feel guilty about it.
It reverses pretty easily since one of the reasons I'm pedo is that I was socialized to think of myself as sexually desirable at an early age, and now I think of people that age as sexually desirable.
