It's the largest American founded religion. They run my whole state, which is about two thirds Mormon. You can't even have a major political office without being one here. It can make you feel a little out of place in many jobs, too, since a lot of companies here are Mormon owned. There are only like two other non-Mormons in the office I work at. They are really big on business, kind of like the Jews.
It is sort of what Christianity was to Judaism. It's like a remake of Christianity. They have their own Bible, in addition to using the regular one, called the Book of Mormon. And they have temples, in addition to churches (well those have a different name, too). I can't believe you haven't heard of it. Are you American? I will really be surprised if you are and haven't heard of Mormonism. It's the second biggest religion, after Catholism in the western United States. Well, there's your primer on Mormonism, I guess. But you should look it up. It's pretty interesting. A little weird. But I suppose all religions are, imo anyway.
