Are child molestors usually not pedophiles?

I read a few minutes ago about how not all child molestors are pedophiles....but rather some of them are attracted to adults but take out their fantasies on children (due to sexual frustration maybe??).

This story rung a bell ibside my head because not once throughout my life before 16 years old do I remember having sexual fantasies about kids, but as I fantasize about having sex with hot women (which I cant do now since Im only 16 and a half) and realuze my desire cannot be fulfilled, I start having sexual thoughts about kids.

Many child molesters are people who are what we call opportunistic offenders. This means that they aren't attracted to children, but they molest a child because they can. I can't say if child molesters usually aren't pedophiles, though I'd like to think so, but there certainly is a large number who molest simply because they wanted to get off and didn't care if it was a child.

Most are pedophiles. Pedophiles who do molest children will often look for an opportunity, while one who isn't a pedophile will often just take advantage of an opportunity without seeking it.

No, not at all. It's about people with antisocial behavior patterns being selfish. People don't rape purely out of being horny.

No, not at all. It's about people with antisocial behavior patterns being selfish. People don't rape purely out of being horny.

So they commit crimes on kids to exert power or create a false sense of dominance? Im confused since I tjought rapes were generally caused by uncontrollable horniness or from sexual frustration (like a dad abusing his daughter because his wife wont fulfill his sexual needs)

Rape is most often head game. The style and nature of a crime can say a lot about the psychology of the perpetrator.

In times of war soldiers will rape women of the native population to assert dominance. Sex is literally used as a weapon.

I am a child molester and I would label myself a pedophile as well. I served my time for my actions with children and honestly felt like I should spend the rest of my life in prison for the things that I have done with children but our great juducial system felt the opposite way and feels like I should be serving outside of prison and in the real world where the temptations are extremely worse and I see the things that I desire all the time. Perhaps I am meant to suffer through this without being protected inside a prison.
