if anyone knows where this subject would be better stored then please say.

i have this fear of collared shirts. everytime i put one on i have a panic attack and my stress level goes through the roof. sometimes its so bad i feel as though im going to pass out if i dont rip the shirt off. its like blood rushes to my head like when you are sitting down for a while and stand up really fast. i think the shirt i have to wear to work (a tuxedo shirt) is just the worst. it starts out ok but within minutes i get insanely claustrophobic although i am really not a claustrophobic person. ive tested this by standing in a small closet for a while and getting under a bed and i feel perfectly fine. when i wear collared shirts i have the claustrophobic feeling that is like a 10/10 like the buried alive feeling.

i know there are some smart helpful people out there and all i need to know is if there is a condition for this or if im just a rare breed. i love my job but its sad that the only reason i hate working is because of the shirt and i may have to quit if i cant get something worked out.
ps its not just my tux shirt, its ANY collared shirt meaning polos or anything. t shirts are good and im guessing part of the phobia has something to do with my neck.

I realise (by looking at the date you posted) that I may be too late for you to get this, but its worth a try.

Don't worry, its not some kind of a disease. Well, it might be, but not one that I know of. Its probably just an uncommon phobia. Loads of people have them. I myself cannot stand velcro. I really hate the stuff. The feel, the sound it makes, even seeing a pair of shoes with velcro on makes me shudder. Its not a claustrophobic thing like yours, but I really don't like velcro.

Anyway, stuff like that is perfectly normal, it might be something to do with a 'repressed childhood memory'. I'm sure hypnosis or some kind of drug would solve it. Or you could explain it to your boss and see if you can wear a non-collared shirt. (If he says no then its you should get a job with a friendly boss)
