Hello again Narain,

There are probably a few different ways to translate that into Spanish, and I cannot find any particular mistakes with your translation. However, here is how I have just translated (based on how I learned Spanish):
No tengo gusto de despertar para la escuela porque tengo que tomar un baño, vestirse, lavarse el pelo, y de comer el desayuno en menos de 30 minutos.

That probably seems strange to you, but it is how I learned Spanish. Where is your Spanish teacher from? My teachers were from Spain itself, but yours might be South American (?).

I don't know where my teacher is from, but I am studying Mexican spanish (since mexico is the closest Spanish speaking country to the U.S.) but I think there are a few key differences. For example gusto (if you meant to put an accent on the o) means i used to like it at a specific time period. And I'm sorry for ranting and raving in that post, but it helped me blow off some steam. Anyway my Spanish teacher sent me an e-mail saying he wants to talk to me at the beginning of school tommorrow (at about 7:00 am) so I'll see what happenes. But if it continues, I might have to drop out the class and take Spanish 3 regular (I'm taking honors at the moment) or take another language (to get the language credit in my school, you have to take 1 language for 3 years, or 2 for two years each). Which one do you think I should do if push comes to shove?

Oh, Mexican Spanish is different from traditional Spanish; and both are different from Argentinian Spanish, Panaman Spanish, Colombian Spanish, etc. Anyway, if push comes to shove, talk to your teacher about what to do. In my opinion, you should take Spanish 3 Regular, just to ensure that you pass the course. There is no point in doing something difficult if it risks you failing the course, right?

thank you for your advice. If I don't get a good grade on the re-take, I'll switch to Spanish 3 regular. But what about the math quiz mentioned in the long post? Should I retake it, or save my re-take for later? I have a unit test comming up, and to get back to an A, I can only miss 2 points. However, If i re-take it and get a 100, I can lose at most 8 points and still have a pretty decent A.

I'm getting confused here Narain and do not feel comfortable offering advice on which tests to retake or not. Your school system is very different from the one here, and that is why I am confused. You got a good grade in the maths though, didn't you? Why would you retake it? 20-out-of-25 is 80% - That's good :)

You're right, it is confusing :) It's just that 20 out of 25 is not so good considering that every quarter grade goes on my high school transcript, which is what colleges look at when they're thinking of admitting you. The system here is that for every class, there are two semester grades and one exam grade that determine what goes on your transcript. However, the way this works is like this:

Sym. 1 Sym. 2 Sym Exam Final Grade

A A C A
B A A A
B A B B

If I get a B in one semester and an A in the next, I have to get an A on the exam to make my overall grade an A. However, I'm usually bad at taking large exams so I need A's in the first two quarters to ensure my A for the semester. Because I end up getting only two actual transcript grades per class, a B is an enormous difference. This, as you can imagine, only adds more stress :)

Narain, now I'm even more confused! :) I think I will just stop trying to understand. The education here seems so much easier. In our final year of school, we just have 7 exams and that is all. There are no gimmicks, tricks, or continuous assessments - just the exams. The British system is complicated too, so, maybe that is where the Indian system is derived from!

Actually I live in the U.S., but I know that the Indian system is way more complicated. :)
