Derealisation question.

Postby IsufferINsilence » Tue Jun 27, 2006 10:55 pm

Hey, I have anxiety and panic attacks and i was just wondering, is it normal to still feel like in a dreamy state even when you're not nervous or having a panic attack. It will go on most of the day. Is it just my brain stuck in panic mode? Will it get stuck that way? I heard that this derealisation/depersonalization will go away once my anxity and panic atacks go away. My brain will somehow, return to normal. Will this feeling go away? Is this normal to last all day even if im not panicking at the moment?

Yes you can, I've dealt with it many times in my lifetime with dealing with anxiety.

Will it ever go away. Will my brain ever return back to normal?

Your brain is normal hon, does it occur constantly 24/7 or only occur when you feel anxious?

Yeah it will go away, but you need to start to find out what is causing your anxiety, in doing so and facing whatever it is that is causing it your derealization will start to go away, as well alot of the symptoms in general.

What's causing it do you know?

it will go away if you learn new ways of relaxing and calming yourself, exercise and long walks will help
also breathe deep and slow and avoid rapid shallow panting

I used to get it all day long and it's what triggered my first panic attack. Once I learned I wasn't going crazy and it was just a part of anxiety I learned just to deal with it. Eventually it will go away, mine took some time after I started on Paxil, but I never get it anymore. Trust me, it will get better, I thought I'd never be normal and I'm fine now.
