Did they try any other solutions? You might want to try a 'pain management' clinic.
The first question they asked me for my spine issue was to rate my pain on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the most pain). I kept saying 9 at every visit to try and hurry the relief.
The second question was if I were sure that this 'pain' wasn't all in my head. Try not to be offended or upset if they ask this, because I think the health insurance company requires that they ask it.
After a yearlong roundabout with PT, braces, pills, electroshock, shots, x-rays, MRIs and co-pays, I was getting nowhere. They mentioned that I was riddled with arthritis, but I had to remind them that arthritis wasn't what I was here for and I would deal with that when I had to.
By this time I was barely mobile and always angry and in great pain.
I finally met with a Neurologist and he said "I think I can help you". I almost wept with relief.
This was 6 years ago. I am 60 now and can deal with the normal old man aches and pains. The crippling pain is gone and I can function again.
Keep seeking an answer. Find the ones that listen. Don't give up. Question everything they suggest.
Best of luck to you.
