I have had some trouble with my back. I have a series of stretches that I do most nights while watching TV which help. I stopped doing sit ups and now do crunches. My lower back has not bothered me much since I started this routine. I still run and have not found that running bothers it.

Some yoga poses are good for backpain but i dont know if u can do them when u have a herniated disc. I have the same pain as u, numbness in my lowerback and all down my left leg, but in the x-ray they didnt find a herniated disc :s. So I have been doing yoga it helps a little bit, the doctor said i might have weak back muscles or something. Or im not sure if i have fibromyglia i should get it checked out .

Sure do know about what back pain is like. After going to three doctors who misdiagnosed me I finally found a Neurologist who ran some tests (X-Rays, MRI, Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Study) he figured out what is going on. I have lumbar disc disease and cervical spinal stenosis. Because I have both what is normally taught in physical therapy I cannot do. So I walk for excersise, lift light hand weights and take med's. Every nine months the pain management doctor gives me epidural steroid injections. At some point in time two discs in the lumbar region will have to be replaced and two discs in the cervical area will have to be replaced.

The worst part of all of this is I am at least I was an extremely active person and now I cannot do what I use to do. I have been told if I ever get in an accident or fall a certain way my spine can snap because there is no room for it to move side to side like it should. It stinks to say the least!

Have you ever found anything that works for more than just a short period of time?

Yep, it is draining emotionally and that makes it even worse.

There are good days like today. It was too beautiful to stay inside for too long. Was able to get out and take several walks, etc. Sure was fun. I bet in some way or another I'll pay for it tomorrow but you know what I don't care it was worth it.

The most common type of treatment that are used analgesics for a short-term relief. However, the pain does not solve the original problem behind the pain. The best backup method for proactive treatment is to exercise which will strengthen the core area to help relieve the pain to a level.

Hi,
Doctors recognized that pain-relief would make many life-saving procedures possible which would not have been attempted without a safely anesthetized patient. Pain relieving drugs can make a person better able to heal from an injury, as they enable patients to remain more comfortable during the process. There are currently many pain reducing drugs from which to choose. Some can be purchased over-the-counter for milder pain and inflammation reduction, while stronger pain killers can be prescribed by a doctor.
