how to deal with pain

Postby alone_lost » Thu Oct 08, 2015 4:36 pm

so I don't actually have a diagnosis for these problems. for weeks now ive been having nearly constant pain in my head and neck. my GP says its psychosomatic. he's giving me pain medication. im going to try different medication in a few days.

but my question is how do you deal with constant pain? because eit certainly isn't making my life any easier. and its not helping my mental health problems: diagnosis ptsd, borderline with depressive episodes. and I think im in a depressive episode now

does anyone have any advice please

I know your post is old, but if you are around and still undiagnosed, please ask to see specialists. You can ask to see a rheumatologist and a neurologist. I am in constant pain. You need to figure out what sorts of things you can do that will help you focus on something other than the pain. Meditation, coloring, movies. Also things like massage, water therapy, sauna (if you aren't temperature sensitive), whirlpool, and sometimes dry needling can help depending on what your issues are. It is entirely possible that your GP doesn't know what to look for. I take a lot of medications and am no longer able to work. I can barely sleep, because I can't put pressure on my head which means only sleeping on my stomach. Due to back problems and severe nerve issues, that causes a ton of pain in my lower back, hips, and legs. My arms tingle and my neck gets a crick in it from having to be in a specific position so that I can balance on part of my cheek. when my teeth hurt I can't balance there. After a while you get used to a certain level of pain, because you have no choice, but it never really gets easier. The best hope is finding someone who believes you and tries to help you improve your quality of life.
