I haven't experienced any pain, but as what I've researched cymbalta can offer relief from a broad range of symptoms of depression that may include loss of interest, associated anxiety, aches and pains, and mood. Studies show that recognition and treatment of a broad range of symptoms of depression may increase your chances of relief. If you find that you are starting to feel better after taking Cymbalta, talk with your doctor about how long you should continue treatment. Do not stop taking your medicine until you speak to your doctor directly. He or she may decide to steadily reduce your dose. If you stop taking your medicine, you may experience dizziness, nausea, headache, or other potential side effects.

Cymbalta blocks neuropathic pain. As meanne2007 stated it also has side effects. Most medications have one side effect or another. Some people can tolerate them and some cannot.

I took it for a very short time but had to stop it because of blurred vision. The same happened with neurontin.

Shamana,

I took Cymbalta for about a year. My doc originally prescribed it for depression and associated pain. I felt results almost immediately. However, the longer I took it the more side effects I began to experience. I think of Cymbalta as a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde drug.

I made the mistake of going off it cold turkey. I thought since I was taking another SSRI at the same time, that it would be okay.

DON'T DO THIS!!!!! I have been on an off of anti-d's for 30 years and have never had withdrawal symptoms like I had when I went off the Cymbalta. They lasted about 6 weeks with the first two being the worst.

Many people tolerate Cymbalta and have good results; I hope that is your experience, but please learn from my lesson about getting off of this or any other SSRI. If you decide to quit taking it, tell your doc and get their advice first.

Tried it, didn't like it. Burned the t-shirt. Almost went into hospital with withdrawal symptoms.

tl:dr: no.

It may work for you, but it didn't for me, and on top of that it made me very VERY ill. However I went off cold turkey because I was an idiot, so that's the reason my withdrawal was so bad.

Pain management has so few options, so it doesn't hurt to try them all.

Hope you find something that works for you.

Xoxo
