ODD progress reports?

Postby rednotebook » Mon Dec 08, 2008 8:27 pm

I am really curious about this process. When a child is being treated (or seen by a professional) for ODD, does the parent get progress reports, or anything of the like? Or do they just have one-on-one sessions with the doctor to talk about the child's progress?

Hi,

Nobody here can answer this question with 100% accuracy. This is a question that you should be posing to the doctor in question. Don't you see that?

Take care,
Kevin

Chucky --

I'm not asking for 100% accuracy. I'd like examples, not fine details. I don't want an essay of a response, I just want something like, "Yeah, sometimes parents get progress cards" or "Some doctors sit down with parents".
Sorry about that; I'm just curious. I posted here because I don't know any child psychiatrists personally.

Thanks,
RN

Hi,

Okay, well, in my experience, doctors don't give out report cards; but they would be more than willing to speak in person to the parent of the child in question. They'd probably want to have one or two sessions where the parent sits-in with the child. The only reports that I know of are the reports that the doctors would send around to each other. For example, if it was your GP who referred you to the psychiatrist, then both the GP and psychiatrist would send reports back and forth to each other about you - know what I mean?
