o.d.d. science does not get.

The doctors that treat o.d.d. don't know the underline reason for the beahovor. I have o.d.d. and i will tell you what cause me to have o.d.d.. o.d.d. it not a power struggle it a struggle to be treated with respect buy there parents. i am highly gifted person with some disabitlys. and when you have a disibally people treat you different. this is an offensive behavior to the disable child. when a child say why we haft to do something we get no answer. this is not good. in my case i wanted to know why i was being ask to do something. if i got answer that answer my question i was most likely to do the action. the parent never listen to the kid. kid get mad, kid talk back to adult, adult get mad ,adult punishes kid, kid get mad, and the cycle cont. it is a lack of respect and a communication problem that causes all the problems. you try to do something that adult ask to do and you know they will yell at you for something related to the project, it make the child not want to do the action. so they say no i will not do that and not do that. think like a kid rember how you were treated and what you did not like about your child hood. then have the nerve to stand up for self so you can stop the abuse. that is o.d.d.

Hello. I come from a highly different family of free spirits.

My son has been diagnosed with mild ODD.

I think that my family and my husband's family are *wired* differently to the point to where having us conform entirely is just not--going--to--happen.

Society keeps trying to fit children and adults both (people in general) into tighter and tighter roles or more and more strict behaviors, to the point where most folks can't even be themselves.

I have decided with my own son, to be a bit "looser" and allow him some concessions which will assist him to feel more comfortable because I feel that part of ODD is a feeling that the world is closing in on you and I feel that people who have ODD need more space, more time, more basic considerations, and these can be small things.

As long as we all show basic respect, be reasonably on time and don't hurt ourselves or others, then it is a free country and we should do as we like.
One of the greatest blasphemies is the taking of one's freedom of thought, dictating matters of the heart and the theft of another's personal peace.

Everyday I live is an act of rebellion.
