I am a christian and I have OCD...see this is what I did, I prayed for GOD to show me a doctor that will help me through this, and GOD DID!!!!...Please hang in there and have faith it will happen. Right now I think that the meds that my doc gave me are doing a super job with my OCD but it is causing me to get more depressed spirts eaisly. SO I try to pray and ask the Lord to show me a better path with different meds.
I hope that this has helped ya friend!
God bless

I was diagnosed with OCD but I am an Atheist. So, I have never had issues where religion was part of my OCD.
Almost the same situation, except I'm an agnostic. It hasn't caused me any problems with my OCD either.
But I have to agree, religion seems to be acting like a barrier between OCD and recovery.

lately i have been having some trouble with ruminations about religion and i have done a lot of praying. i think that my praying is very healthy but it could very quickly develop into an ocd level of extremity if it gets out of control
Hi there,
I´m not really sure what you mean but many people with ocd have religious thoughts, like they are afraid they will, just by thinking something "bad" affend God and they they will go to hell. Is that how you mean? Kind of? Or you feel dirty for involving God and other sacred things in your decise?
I am a bit like that, more before though.
I am suffering from something similar and my life is miserable and with a lot of depression

There is strong connection between OCD and Christianity for me. I was raised in a fundamentalist Christian family, but as I grew older I started to question the religion that was force-fed down my throat from birth. I eventually became an Atheist around age 17, before becoming ill with OCD. My mind constantly screws with me, telling me i'm sick for denying God. My parents have even told me I will never be happy without God on many occasions (**** them). However, I am starting to realize this perverse cycle only worsens my obsessions, and could very well be the reason I have so much fear in my life. I have basically been crowned the prodigal son of my family, and as a result it's been hard to not let religious shame fuel irrational thoughts about myself.
