i know what ocd is, and what it does, but what are the effects of having it? like, i guess my question is, does ocd lead or link to other things like depression and such.. cause its sort changed the way i act, and think, and well i guess my personalitiy. it may sound silly, and it probably has more to do with obsession and experiences versus the generic disorder of ocd, but i am afraid of it. (ironic, i know) cause when obsessions or fears change, i change too as a result..

yes....other emotions can be linked to OCD. It can trigger anger, depression, suicidal thoughts. The list is long. It's very hard to live w/. How I personally dealt w/ (well for me it was) OCPD controlled how I lived...who I was as a wife, a mother, a friend. I had to work extremely hard to get where I am now w/ what I was going through. I've made some huge accomplishments. I still have my "quirks", but I've come a long way. In other words, a person can deal w/ this and live a better life compared to not being treated at all.

i used to have ocd and i would get very depressed. i became very obsessed with religion and i was afraid that i was going to go to hell if i didnt pray enough. sometimes i would pray for a half of an hour a night. it got extremely frustrating and i got very distressed because of it, especially because i didnt know that i was dealing with a mental illness back then. i never got suicidal thoughts because of it though.
