I've suffered with this disorder for nearly 23 years...am on disability because of it. Does anyone else have this particular compulsion? If so have you been able to control it?

I have never heard of this type of OCD but am keen to know more about it. Are you male or female? If you continually cut your hair won't there become a point when you cannot cut any more?

Hi there;
I am 24 years old and stated having problems with OCD at about 10 or 11 but im sure i can think of many times before that i was acting out in that way.I havent been able to work, droped out of high school then college, and should be on disability but never make my appiontments. At 11 i started pulling out my hair. not clumps just one little hair here and there,while watching tv and before i new it i was missing half of my hair. With waist long hair and none in front I must have been a strange site. I got this to stop by relising people could tell something was wrong woth me.
So later on at 14 (VERY bad years in between) i dicoverd hair dye and bleached out my black hair. then i trmmed it. So here i am 10 years later. i have been growing my hair since 14 and havent had it past my sholder. I hate short hair and never failes i cutting my hair just when it starts getting long. Over and over agian. now i have OCD and many other emontal problems but i've never understood that one. my hair finally stats geting long and healthy and off it goes. then i'm sickend by how i look. over and over agian. just thought i'de let you know since there was no other posting to that. i dont know what your storey is but I just discoverd this web site tonight and i'm feeling like there are some people out there who understand me mabey a little more than i thought.

nschmitt26, how did you find this thread? The post before yours was made by in 2005. I guess you linked here directly from Google?

It could be that he scrolled down the other OCD hair cutting thread and clicked on the link under 'related articles'.

I think I might have OCD, or HAD it, because I used to open and shut the door to my room 5-6 times everytime, it was very bothersome

I also cut my hair off when I was younger
