Just tell them you think you have OCD. "I've been thinking about this alot and I want you to know..."
Something like that.
But have these things ready.
1. What you do as ritual
2. How you feel about the ritual
3. Why you feel you have to do it
4. Why the ritual makes you calmer or feeling better
That is the most notable...
1. You need to find out whats going on in your mind.
A. Imagine not doing the ritual
1. what happens...
2. Find out why you do the ritual
a. What do you think about before sdoing the ritual
b. If you did not do the ritual, what comes to mind.
2. You do things compulsively.
A. What do you do
B. Why you do it
C. How you fee when you don't do it
3. What is going on in your mind that keeps showing up
A. Write it down.
If you can answer these questions and have them dotted down on a piece of paper, I would imagine you would be ready to tell them...
I know. Sounds so perfect, but how can you do something like that? That's the problem with us OCD suffers. It's hard to get even that far.
Telling your friends you have OCD.
1. Think up something you are obsessing... something innocent. Look at your friends reaction. If he/she takes it in stride. Go deeper. Something this person can handle, but, you know, because your close, you can get away with it. If it seems OK? You probably have a friend who knows you have these tendencies and can elaborate on it...
Remember... they are your friends.. they aren't dummies... they know what you say, how you say it, your moods and can take all of it... for they are your friends. So, they most likely have some incling into your personality... and better yet, they are your friends by choice. So, just telling them the superficial stuff can help. See what happens... if they don't seem receptive to the rest, back down and wait, and try again...
