I find myself thinking over an over - one subject that causes me internal pain.
I can't stop doing this to myself.
Even when I try to do other things this intrusive thinking is causing me to suffer.
What can I do ?

First, do you know the subject?
If you know the subject..you might be half-way home!
How do you feel. Upset?
Angry?
Anxious?
Afraid?
Hopeless?
Sad?
This is making you feel disturbed. Finding the emotions can help you find the thoughts.
Once you find the thoughts. You might try this?
Stop!
Look around!
Find this thought
Look for the opposite.
See if that is really so?
Realise it!
It's not easy? Thoughts go so fast! But, if this is something that is a one time problem... it might work.
IF not..and you seem to do this with many thoughts.. then it might be obsession.
Stop! Shout to yourself! STOP!
Quickly..look around and realise where you are..sounds corny..but...helps with anxiety attacks.
See if you can find the thought... what's in your mind that keeps going around. Go back to stop...and do it again...until you see that thought in your head!
Then...Think of the opposite...like "I feel like I am going to die"
replaced with.."You are OK... nothing is wrong..you are OK."
This a panic attack. "You do feel this way and you don't know why?" Many people think they are having a heart attack! IT feels like that! I had one! "But, you are not!"
THe most important thing is what is happening?
See if that works? If not...let us know what's going on/
We are here to help!
This man was sexually assaulted (rape) and has OCD...yikes!
"It literally turned my life around!"
He worked in a Pyschiatric Hospital as a Nursing's Aid for 5 years.
He was also a patient on a few occasions for suicide, too.
