Can anyone tell me what a spike feeels like?

Is it when someone says something or does something which you fear and immediately start worrying about the new intrusive thoughts which you can't get out of your mind? Does it feel like your going to be sick and is just full of pure dread?

I still don't know what to do about this girl I like/don't like

Spike, from my own experience, is when your getting the intrusive thoughts and you get that really bad anxious sort of feeling. Usually caused by the "checking for arousal" for me, or from what other people have said.

Spikes are horrible, really horrible. They usually end when I either reassure myself or get my mind of it. The majority of the spikes I get are at school, it doesn't help at all that my whole class is pretty much boys and I find none of the girls attractive.
