Intrusive thoughts? Stream of Mental Profanity.

Postby J_Zombeenie » Wed May 12, 2010 3:35 am

I work with the public and I'm finding myself more and more cussing every thing that people do.
Only I do it under my breath. Occassionally, my mouth moves and I'm certain at times I whisper of a syllable or two. I don't really feel very angry, but the thoughts that come through would make you think otherwise. The other day I was talking back to the thought stream because it cussed someone for doing one thing, then it cussed another person for doing the opposite. I said to it "There is no making you happy, is there?"

Does this sound like Intrusive thoughts maybe? Its getting really bad. I'm embarrassed by how insensitive and rude my thoughts are becoming. And if I ever utter one of these names out loud, I'll be devastated. I really don't think there is a profane expression to suit every individual I meet, but if you could hear my thoughts, you'ld think that I do. Anybody else experience this?

What is the 'thought stream' that you are referring to?; and why are you in the OCD forum? Based solely on what you have written, I do'nt see intrusive thoughts anywhere. I see a lack of self control, but nothing 'intruisive' in the way that you are implying,. If you want to stop 'cussing', then plan ahead and tell yourself that you won't 'cuss' the next time you are in a similar situation as before.

Its not just the cussing thoughts, its the pattern of inappropriately aggressive thoughts. They are unwanted thoughts and they feel out of control. Often I am hurrying people in my mind very impatiently and attacking their every aspect. It reminds me of occassions when I am driving to get somewhere and I verbally turn loose on the SUnday driver in front of me. I don't really mean everything I say and I expect no one to hear it, but its a release. But now its like all the time, in my thoughts, with the very people I'm supposed to be most attentive to. Except when I am relaxed at home. Its almost constant at work now. I realize there is no legitimate reason to feel so impatient, and I don't believe I'm actually as angry as my thoughts make me sound. I've worked with the public for many years now and have prided myself on my professionalism. This line of thinking is the antithesis of what I want to be professionally. If I could just "make up my mind" to think otherwise it never would have reached this point.

"why are you in the OCD forum?"
Geez, Am I not welcome here???????????

I asked about yuor presence in the OCD forum because I couldn't relate OCD to your first post. I was not trying to offend or upset you. However, having read your second post, I'm seeing OCD a little more. You have a quick temper, right?; and you 'explode' at people. I've done this too, and openly in public. I also was terribly angry at home to my mother and father. One thing that helped me was taking an anti-depressant. I think their title is misleading, however, because they rarely counteract your depression in a big way. instead, they attempt to do it indirectly by doing such things as relaxing your mood and making you less angry.

If you're not part of the anti-psychology movement, then please go to your local doctor and talk about getting some help for this stuff you're facing.
