I started showing signs of obsessive-compulsive disorder when I was 14. When I talked to my parents about it, they just called my habits “silly.” It wasn’t until I moved out that I was diagnosed.
The official diagnosis put me at ease, strangely enough. I no longer had to think, “Do I have obsessive-compulsive disorder?” That question would drive me nuts for years. The diagnosis cleared things up and allowed me to continue with my life without worrying...about that, anyway.
It’s hard living with OCD, especially when people make fun of you. I try to ignore that the best I can, though. That’s all you can do, really.
I joined this site basically because I want to get to know others who have obsessive-compulsive disorder. Share stories, eccentricities, and other things.
Yup.

Big welcome! I am new as well. People here are not judgmental. If you ever need to vent or speak about your experiences then we are all eyes. I am currently going to a therapist for a few things myself. You can check out my posts if you like.
The first step is acceptance. Your making progress! I wish the best of luck to you on your therapy.
