am I obsessive or schizophrenic?

Postby delusion » Tue May 06, 2008 11:43 pm

For the last half an hour I keep thinking of the possibility that a girl I know from school put a bad spell on me like a black magic or something. I don't know why I suddenly tought about it. what's happening to me? Confused
now I got off it but that kind of thing happens all the time. I can get obsessive about any kind of thing. and think on it as a real problem.
and I'm so scared it will turn into schizophrenia or I'm afraid I have been one. I'm so scared of seeing or hearing hallucinations and sometimes it feels like I will see them or a light or something like that which is real or just an illusion, I think of it as an hallusination. :? :? please help me

You are worried about her having put a spell on you probably because you are guilty of something against her (or someone like her).

Find out what your mistake was (i.e., why you have reason to be worried about a spell).

Sorry. I should've read better.

My opinion is that the best thing you can do to avoid mental illness generally, including hallucinations, etc, is to live with integrity.

If you don't have guilt (because you made some girl jealous), or shame or whatever then there is not much than can hurt you.

If you're slinking around a lot then you will just get paranoid, never knowing who has your number.

When you go to bed at night, you should be able to close your eyes saying "I didn't ###$ up anybody's life today, I can sleep".

Well, first of all, you definetly do not suffer from OCD based on what you have said so far, and you do not seem schizophrenic at all either, you do seem to have a few psychotic symptoms at times, maybe they are part of some psychotic disorder(other than schizophrenia). You may not have anything at all, though. Most people experience psychotic symptoms from time to time without suffering from any mental illness. And to toad, i think you've got the wrong idea.. it doesn't matter what you have done, nothing you have done can cause a MENTAL ILLNESS, sure it can make you feel guilt and/or remorse, but guilt and remorse are not the equivalent of a mental illness, mental illness is a very serious thing not comparable to unpleasant emotions such as guilt and remorse. No behavior other than placing yourself in stressful situations over and over again and/or doing drugs can "bring on" a mental illness, mental illness is biological, not psychological.
