I was recently prescribed Paxil for anxiety and OCD. I want to continue using something that will help, but this medicine has had negative side effects, even after only 5 days. I am supposed to call my docter this week. It seems like benzo's like klonopin or valium may be the way to go. I do not like having to take a pill every day and I feel quite strange from the Paxil, zombie like, or like im in a dream. I also sometimes feel as if my OCD symptoms have worsened, as well as it has affected me sexually. What is your all opinion?

I took Celexa for OCD and there are other SSRI's that are used. The bad thing about Xanax or any benzo is that they can be quite addictive and so many doctors are reluctant to prescribe them as the first course of treatment.
I personally am not finding Paxil particularly effective for OCD, but that will be something I bring up with my doc at my next visit. Sometimes the hardest thing is finding the right rx for the problems.
Good luck,
N.

Keep in mind that SSRIs take a few weeks to reach their true full effects.......until then yea things will feel difficult. I suggest you try it for the full time it needs to take effect and if it doesn't help then try the benzos (which work right away). But of course get advise from the doctor before continuing just in case there is a more underlying reason to your negative reaction.
