Can intrusive thoughts cause Groinal response? I remember holding my baby and she fell asleep on my chest . I was so worried with intrusive thoughts about not getting a “feeling” or Groinal. Then I got an intrusive thought like “oh just get a feeling” which is not my desire at all! But I got a Groinal response , it wasn’t pleasurable but it freaked me out and put me in the mental hospital. Do you all feel like I acted on a thought? Or if I did something what did I do? I just feel like because the intrusive thought was “just let yourself feel something” and then I felt something. I acted on it. Although it wasn’t a pleasurable feeling. Has anyone done this or had similar experiences?

I think we can all agree that thoughts can cause responses.
And I can testify that certain sorts of anxiety spikes can cause responses.
I think you need to work hard at not caring what goes through your mind- thoughts not acted on don't mean a thing, when it comes to OCD and intrusive thoughts. Not to me, they don't, because that is the key to combating them. The attitude that I don't care.

The problem I’m stuck on iz after I had that thought I did kind of make myself get a feeling. Wasn’t pleasurable but don’t know if it was on purpose. So Iit makes me think I acted on it.

Do me a favor, and try to worry about actions outside your body, and not on if a thought intentionally caused something that involved only yourself. I don't worry about my intrusive harm (or POCD) thoughts, because I haven't done anything to anyone. We all get thoughts that we don't want or don't want to carry out or are inappropriate in one way or another. A good example is a sleeping dream- if I wake up from a dream and I was doing something wildly inappropriate- say with a minor- I'm going to intentionally not let that bother me because no one was actually touched.
I'm not saying thoughts don't matter- there are times that they do. But when it comes to OCD, I'll argue we have to understand that to an extent, they do not- and groinal responses from them do not. I'll argue for us, since we're so fixated on conflating our every thought with solid reality (if I think it, I must want it or be guilty of it), we need to do a little healthy separation between what goes on in our heads, with our actions. Your baby was on you- you got a groinal response. At no time did you actually DO anything to your child, you understand me? Judge yourself by that. Not by picking your thoughts and physical sensations to death.

Just feel like I let myself get a feeling. And that would mean I acted sexually toward my baby.

No you didn't. You didn't mention sexual abuse. You didn't mention bad touches. You didn't mention covert incest. You had a
feeling. People get feelings all the time.

Still struggling hard with this one. And I’m going to tell you something. This happened 11 years ago. I was committed because of this. Eventually I realized it was ocd and any feelings were caused by ocd and not me wanting my baby. But…. Fast forward to a random memory of it last week and I have been down ever since.

11 years ago and you required some in-patient treatment? Was this some sort of post-partum depression going on?
