I've heard that it's not possible to fully get rid of OCD and that it's cause is uncertain.
Some source said: "compulsive behaviors relieve intense and unbearable anxiety." But, there must exist plenty of people who experience "intense and unbearable anxiety" without having to resort to weird OCD games? For me it's not possible to ever get rid of the actual anxiety causing the OCD.
Can the OCD be replaced with something and disappear?
Is there a permanent medical procedure, surgery etc?

For me, I think OCD is one of those chronic things that can be controlled, but never truly eradicated. I can keep some aspects of my OCD in check quite handily, but it does require vigilance on my part, lest it get hold of me again. My intrusive harm thoughts would be a good example of that. I've gotten very good at disregarding them, which in turn makes them infrequent and fairly powerless. But I know the moment I let down my guard and give it just a little serious consideration, I could easily slip back into worrying I'm going to do something horrible.

It always seem that when I’m having an especially awful time or feel more frustrated than usual, there is more of the “serious consideration”.

It appears there are several procedures but yeah mess with my brain tissue? I'd have to be really bad off.
