Groinal Response Theory

Postby OCDthrowaway1986 » Tue Jun 02, 2020 12:29 pm

Hi,

I'm wondering if any of you with sexual obsessions have had a similar experience. When I have intrusive thoughts, I get this sensation which feels drastically different from real sexual arousal (unpleasant stinging/tingling/aching in the genital area) which I assume is what people refer to as Groinal Response.

HOWEVER, even though it is really different from real arousal, it seems to make the nerves down there extra sensitive, so if I start stimulating them manually (while thinking pleasant sexy thoughts that have nothing to do with my obsession), I can reach orgasm much faster than I would if my nerves weren't as sensitive.

This worries me because it seems like I was "pre-aroused" by the unpleasant thought, even though the sensations were very different. FWIW, my therapist says it's like if your nipples get erect from cold weather, they would then feel extra sensitive during sexual stimulation, but it doesn't mean that you are sexually aroused by cold.

Does anyone else experience that?
