I have obsessive thoughts about a lot of really uncomfortable things. I have told my girlfriend about almost all of them and she is very supportive despite it making her uncomfortable. I think she is more understanding now. My thoughts are getting pretty bad as of recent which sucks because everything else in my life is going pretty well. I want to see a therapist but the last time I did, I didn't tell him about my thoughts because it is really embarrassing. How can I get comfortable with the idea of telling someone that I just met about something so personal. I want help but I know I won't get it if I can't solve this problem. Thank you.

Hi Bird,
Is it possible to write the thoughts down? I find that writing it out is a lot easier than having to muster up the courage to speak them on the spot. Maybe you can write a little thought here, a little thought there until you've accurately transcribed your thoughts, and then bring that sheet of paper with you to your therapist?
Alternatively, maybe you can bring your GF along with you and have her tell the therapist the things that you told her.
I've found that once you tell someone, it becomes a little easier to tell others. So maybe it will be easier to tell the therapist this time around!
Good luck!

If they know about OCD, I doubt there's anything they haven't heard, or have read about, as far as the kinds of thoughts we can have. I have thoughts I'd... have a hard time actually telling someone, but if I knew they understood OCD, I'd be a lot more likely to.
