Hi CleanedDown,
Sorry you're having such a bad time.
You know, Cognitive Behavior Therapy combined with finding just the right meds can be a huge help to the OCD.
I'm guessing that you're abuse issues are stoking the fires of your OCD. It looks like some part of you inside is screaming to get some help with the abuse recovery (IMHO). For that you'll want to get some *reliable* support -- in other words a therapist (not just family/friends).
In addition, to help control some of the anxiety/distress, I'm going to quote my recommendation for somebody else about anxiety self-care:
But CBT is highly recommened. Try library or bookseller for a couple books on CBT (it has different names):
• Albert Ellis' "Rational Emotive Therapy" - or any other of his book, they don't differ much. He's an edgy New Yorker that's not for everybody.
• David Burns' "Feeling Good: The new mood therapy". He aims it more at depression, but the cognitive principles are universal.
Also look into guided meditation recordings. Find a voice & style that appeal to her.
Those things are all good, but probably need to be supplements to what her doc(s) offer. Sometimes they'll recommend an anti-depressant -- which can (strangely) help some of the anxiety without tranquizing her down overly - or addicting her.
Please keep in touch here and let us know how you're doing.
We care.
We've had the abuse serpent raise his head, too.
