Hi everyone,
My OCD and mental rituals are becoming so intricate. They used to make sense, now they don't. So I'm trying to quit smoking, here's my current issue
I quit yesterday (Easter)
Easter is about religion
Religion terrifies me
Smoking is bad
Smoked on Easter
If I quit on Easter, I'll never forget that and I'll be scared of religious thoughts the rest of my life
If I 'un-do' the action and smoke my last cig today, then I might be punished for trying to eliminate Easter from my thoughts.
Please, I'm begging someone to tell me this isn't the weirdest thing they've ever heard

No, that completely makes sense, and it’s definitely not weird (certainly not weird for OCD). I am terrified of religion as well, to the point that I’m obsessed with avoiding it (especially Christian-based religions). I’m really sorry you are suffering with these intrusive thoughts, it sounds very stressful

I wish you luck with your quitting smoking though!
