OCD Fear of Narcissism? Is this a common obsession?

I get this obsession on and off. Hadn't had it for a while until something set it off today and I've just been crying and punishing myself with sit-ups because I'm worried I'm a narcissist. My friend is telling me it's my OCD but I'm not so sure. I want attention all the time and sometimes I feel like I don't care about other people at all. I worry I'm not sad enough when famous people die and that I don't care about people dying in terrorist attacks. The reason I was triggered today is because it's my parents' ruby wedding anniversary and my wife and I are discussing what to buy them. She wanted to spend loads on them and I didn't, because I like to spend my money on myself. Surely that makes me selfish? I googled narcissistic personality disorder and I'm pretty sure I have elements of it.

My wife says I can't be selfish because I spent loads on our wedding and honeymoon (she couldn't afford it). But I spent loads because I wanted a nice wedding and honeymoon, so it's still selfish?

everyone is selfish sometimes. everyone does have some characteristics of NPD, but that does not mean you have it!
