Picking ocd (may trigger? idk)

Postby Breytt » Mon Mar 28, 2016 2:35 pm

I'm not one to pick at my skin to cause new scabs, but I've been diagnosed with ocd because if I do get a scab I will regularly pick at it. Of course my skin also scratches up extremely easily, so I always have at least 10 scabs to pick on a regular basis. I am completely scarred from it. My legs are pretty gross. It's definitely a pretty nasty kind of ocd. Not to mention my self-harm fuels my ocd, so I don't even think of harming myself as "bad" because I get something out of it. I guess I'm pretty #$%^&* up.

Anyway just wondering if any of you deal with this? I've never really spoken to anyone like myself, and I've only come across a single person's blog about it. Mind you I haven't checked for more in a few years now.

Hey! I have the exact same thing except I do it with pimples...It sucks because it makes my skin look ten times worse. I am currently going to a therapist for it. Hope yours gets better!

I'm not currently in any sort of therapy, but I've been trying to prevent it as much as possible. Usually I'll wear long-sleeves or knee-high socks so I don't see or feel them. The problem is I don't even notice I do it, and when I do notice I stop but then within 5 minutes I subconsciously pick it anyway. At least I'm trying though.

My skin is definitely awful looking. The only place I've managed to never pick at is my face, and that gives me some hope. I mean if I have the ability to stop myself from doing it on my face maybe I can gain the ability for the rest of my body if that makes any sense. :)

Anyhow glad in a way to see I'm not so alone with this. Although I wouldn't wish this on anyone, so I hope your therapy really helps you overcome it. ♥
