OCD about very distant past

Postby WeirdKid » Sat Feb 27, 2016 2:43 am

I constantly have to think about things that may have happened and try to figure out if they really did and my OCD has been causing this for a long time.
Essentially, I have the nagging fear that when I was around 8-9 years old I forgot to feed my hamster and that was why it died. I can't remember but he might have been a 1 year and a half old and obviously because it was so long ago I can't remember everything.
I remember that one night I found it cold and shaking in the corner of it cage. My grandmother tried to comfort it with me but I think it died the next day.
I have an anxiety that I caused this by not feeding it or something and I know this isn't going to be the last time I have anxiety about something like this.

Sup, WeirdKid.

Lemme just say that I can completely and utterly relate to what you've posted. I have some very similar stuff going on right now based on multiple events that may have happened, not just one, so it's tough.

Unfortunately, aside from the typical advice of dealing with OCD, I can't exactly say how else one could approach this, since I'm in the same boat :/

Stay strong, and feel free to message me about anything if you want. Wish I had more advice to offer.

Peace.

I have the same thing but about something I did during ERP. I guess the theory is that you're supposed to accept it. Anything we say, e.g. You didn't kill your hampster is just reassurance.
