Measuring and Finger Ratio. HOCD

Postby HOCD-scared1996 » Mon Feb 08, 2016 7:54 pm

Okay so its been a while since ive posted cause i havent really felt the need to. However, since last night ive been going crazy because of this finger ratio thing.

Basically, the idea is that if your ring finger is longer than the index, thats masculine, if theyre the same or the index finger is longer thats feminine. Well, ive probably measured my fingers 30 times since last night(heard about it around 12, was up till 2:30 cause i was freaking out). Thing is, just looking, it seems like my index and ring are basically the same size, ring might be slightly larger. When i measure though, i keep getting different results. Sometimes my ring finger is larger, sometimes my index finger is larger. I even drew lines on them in sharpie to get a more accurate measure and i still cant figure it out. I guess im sort of feminine, im pretty short, not very good at sports, but im not artsy or anything like that. I dont really know what to make of it.

So my question is, does anyone who knows more about this than I do have any thoughts on the whole thing. It seems to go back to some scientist in the 90's but i dont really know much else. Its even pretty contradictory as some sources say gay men have much longer ring fingers, and some say gay men have more equal lengths. Its just scary cause it seems that this is more credible than all the "am i gay" tests online.

The finger ratio means nothing on orientation to date as far as we know. Plenty of gays have straight ratios and vice versa and lesbians bisexuals and asexuals.

There's know currently no known true evidence to identify it in such a way. I don't know if the difference in brain scans studies even are accurate. If there was a way to find out they'd have found it by now. Also likely why it's still known to be unchangeable in males too. However I'm not sure they're even looking to find out anything on the subjects now.

Being feminine doesn't make you gay. Being artsy doesn't either etc.

Thanks for the fast reply. I had seen quite a few gay people saying they had the masculine ratio, but i hadnt seen nearly as many straight guys say they had the feminine ratio. But yeah i guess if brain scans arent even accurate theres no way finger length could be either. I swear, every time i feel any better i find something that sends me right back in the spiral.

I'm not saying the brain scans aren't, I'm just saying there's no conclusion on that being the case. At best it still doesn't explain bisexual or anywhere in-between or asexuals or demisexual.

I'm sure you could ask anyone at empty closets and they'd agree that the finger ratio thing is #######4.

Oh okay i see what youre saying. That makes sense. But youre right. I made a post there about it asking them. They said its not accurate at all as well.

Why exactly do you have an account there? Posting there will likely get you banned eventually if you talk too much about hocd. If you're posting there for exposures without anxiety escaping then okay but that doesn't sound like what happened here.

It was really a reassurance thing. I dont really care if i get banned there but i figured if i heard that i was straight from gay people i would feel better. I did for a while but long term it didnt help really. Plus i think it does help a little (for me) to communicate with them and see that theyre still real people and not something to fear.
