Compulsive emailing/texting

Postby kah80 » Sat Jan 23, 2016 12:54 pm

Can this be an OCD thing? Does anyone else have it?

I spend the whole day at work emailing my friends. I'm constantly feeling guilty but I can't stop doing it. I have to email people and tell them about my problems. If I don't, I feel anxious. If someone emails me (non-work related) I always reply immediately. I have to force myself not to, and it makes me feel anxious. And even if I try hard, I can barely stop myself for more than a few minutes.

Same thing happens in the evening and weekends with text messages.

Also, if someone else doesn't reply to me immediately, which happens a lot, as most people aren't like me, I assume they don't like me, or don't care about me, or are mad at me. I try to rationalise it, that they're busy at work or whatever, but I discount that and assume they don't like me.

I'm not sure if these two things are related...

The fact that these situations does make you anxious can be a part of an OCD behaviour, although what do you feel runs in your mind if you dont send a text message that then leads you to being anxious?

Sometimes I'm not aware of any thoughts, it just feels uncomfortable if I don't do it. Other times I think my friends don't care about me or I'm annoying them but I still send the messages.
