OCD changing compulsions

Postby taylor_winchester » Fri Jan 08, 2016 6:32 pm

For the past year or so I've suffered from OCD
My normal compulsions are usually tapping and counting and that still happens all the time but over the last couple of days I've been a bit ill (just like, a sore throat and cold) and I keep getting thoughts that if I'm not clean then I'll make someone else or myself seriously ill. and constantly it feels like my hands are dirty and will spread germs. I feel like I have to wash my hands all the time and covering my palms with sleeves and stuff can help. I'm scared that it's a compulsion and I don't know if it's normal for them to change sometimes. I don't know, I just don't want things to get out of hand.

Dear taylor_winchester:

In my experience with OCD compulsions, when those were most active, I changed compulsions often, tapping, counting, walking forward and backward... washing hands, turning off lights again and again and on and on and on. Later on the compulsions slowed down, and I had only a few that did not change. ...Later on, I experimented with not doing the compulsion and seeing what happened and ... made it. Since then I feel the urge to do such things as remove something from the dinner table before I eat, or washing my face before I eat, once. So the compulsions are very light.

Let me know if you want me to share anything else. Best to you!
