Hello to anyone who reads this.. I just wanted to share a document written by a therapist that I've read a countless amount of times as a result of doubting my Harm OCD. It helped me tremendously during the times when I was convinced that I was, or was becoming a psychopath or evil. It addresses some of the rigid diagnostic guidelines, and how they are misleading because OCD symptoms can progress in ways that fool us into thinking that we're becoming what we're afraid of. To all of you who are fighting with this illness, I hope you can find some relief and comfort in this in desperate situations like I did. Hope and love to all of you, don't give up!

"Instead they were they were checking to see if they were pedophiles or not. "Someone who has a true sexual interest in children knows that they have this interest and they don't need to constantly check to make sure they really feel this attraction. If you feel a sexual attraction, you know it. If you are constantly checking your sexual attractions to see if they are real or not it can only be OCD."
This must be the same for TOCD. If you know you're trans you don't need to obsess over it and you probably would know. Because I continue to check if I'm trans and I find no answer because my obsessions and intrusive thoughts are so frightening that I think they must be true.
" Is it really OCD, I am worried it is not OCD. What if it isn!t OCD is called the doubting disease after all. My feeling is that if you are asking yourself over and over is it really OCD,then in all probability it is OCD. "Sometimes a person without OCD will wonder if they have it, but they are not usually so obsessive about it."
Oh yes!
Is it really OCD? Or am I trans? It feels so real, but I'm not sure if it's OCD, this can't be OCD, can it? -.-

This is helpful for me too. I guess if I didn't have OCD I'd realise that rather than constantly checking if I have OCD...
