Postby mrme123 » Wed Nov 25, 2015 11:42 am

Hi peoples, my name is Peter and ive suffered with OCD for around 4 - 5 years. In the course if that time ive nearly fully recovered from it and are considering psychology as a study.

I felt like joining these forums simply because i honestly think i can help a lot of people here as i have a lot of experience with OCD and everything it has the throw at you, if it comes to thoughts, fears, compulsions, obsessions, i can help you with it. And i thought just to be nice i should introduce myself, thanks for reading and if you need help with any OCD stuff let me know i can relate to you very well and help you from what ive learnt.

(May Trigger)

4 years ago my parents divorced, my mum collapsed from a seizure due to stress, those where 2 very traumatic situations in life which may have led to me developing OCD, my dad was also very controlling, about when i ate, slept pretty much anything even how much toilet paper we had to use. After a year i started getting symptoms of OCD and was then diagnosed with it. My brother got leukemia 2 years ago which generally made my OCD incredibly worse. Now answering your question i went through a lot of phases of OCD, but people don't realize that all the phases are the same in a different way. They all involve a behavior of neutralizing.

Fear, probably a massive part of the OCD, i had a fear of emetophobia (Vomiting) and i was seeing a psychologist, and i overcame the fear, there is many ways to overcome a fear, you can either be direct with the fear which may either turn your fearless of it or make yourself even worse, or you can face your fear in SMALL, Do-able, Steps. That's what i did. I'm still afraid of it but, the point is it dosnt prevent my everyday life anymore. Before i used to avoid car trips due to car sickness. (Therefore interfering with my life)
