Yes, his response was 'everyone has obsessive thoughts from time to time. I wouldn't be surprised to be diagnosed with it too but I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case for most people'. I.e. Everyone has OCD, stop being a wimp.

This is the thing I was talking about how people believe these are OCD. But they're not. Hence why they can get over them so easily and real OCD is not so simple.

No, it's absolutely awful. OCD has taken everything away from me this past month. I'm doubting who I fundamentally am and ruining so many potentially fun memories. I've fallen behind in school, did a 180 on my poor boyfriend who was used to this fun-loving bubbly person. It's awful. I'll have decent days and really bad ones. He's there by my side, which makes me feel so guilty/sad/furious/frustrated, you name it. I'm just hoping this is my OCD, but sometimes it feels so unbelievably real. I don't want any of my obsessions to come true, but I can't shake this off.

I haven't been able to shake mine off either. The IDC attitude is extremely hard when you DO care and don't want it to turn out true.

Well, that's the stigma that comes with OCD. People think we are all handwashing, oven checking, mysophobic clean freaks. Fortunately, most therapists understand this, and talking to someone openly, who isn't going to judge you or think you are a weirdo is going to help you a long way on your journey with this illness.
