That $#%^ needs to stop. Now.

The fact is that nobody here on psychforums is a professional in the field. If someone here is a professional in the field, then it is not their job nor are they allowed to diagnose anyone here. That is dangerous and totally unethical. This forum is for community support, and nothing else. This forum is so that people can get relevant insight into the experiences of people who deal with the SAME issues. Not so that someone can trudge around and provide poor and misguided insight for people who are actually suffering, especially from any theme of sexual OCD. Imagine if a homosexual came around and started saying "Just come clean, man. You're gay. Admit it." Or a pedo came around and said "Just accept it. You're aroused by children."

Imagine how awful that would make the sufferer feel and how damaging it would be to anyone else who read that, especially since people with OCD regularly seek reassurance and check information.

Fresh, go to another forum please. Skier, same with you. You're only damaging those of us who actually have OCD.
I am the chaotic expression of consciousness and mind. I am the pendulum of human thought, stuck in the superposition between reason and madness. I am nothing. I am you. I am me. I am every mouse. I am Any Mouse. Where there is fire, I carry gasoline.

Hi All,

It has been a long time since I've been on this site, but I ended up back here thanks to a notification in my email that someone had messaged me.

I wanted to thank you all for your help through one of the most difficult periods in my life.

I am not trans (however, the true 'cure' was accepting that I could be trans). I do suffer from OCD and I put in a lot of work to get myself to a healthy place. This included months of cognitive behavioral therapy and proper medication (which I still take).

The last three years have been wonderful and episode-free, but that requires me communicating with my therapist every 6 months or so to make sure I'm maintaining healthy habits.

I am so sorry to anyone who is experiencing anything similar to what I went through. OCD is intense, debilitating, and horrifically confusing. You can get through this, I promise.

My best piece of advice is to reach out to a mental health professional. The road is bumpy but if you stick with it and put in the work, the weight of OCD will start to lift.

In stumbling back onto this thread, I felt I owed everyone an update and a confirmation that I do indeed have OCD.

Again, my sincere thanks to everyone who took time out of their lives to interact with me during one of the darkest periods of mine.

A blessing of this was that I was forced to learn a lot about the trans community and develop a deep respect for their experience. It just, wasn't mine.

With love.
