TOCD (edit)

INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS/BELIEFS/FEELINGS related to TOCD, SOME BUT NOT LIMITED TO

1.The belief that what you do is related to being a woman, yet while at the same time fail to realize that men do or are capable of doing the same thing. Often resulting in an image of a woman you know or resembles someone you know doing Something similar ie. putting super glue to fit something back together.

2.The forshadowing thought of doing something moments before doing it , in a feminine way, often includes an image of a feminine character doing obvious feminine traits. ie, sorting out my sons birthday party, forshadowing the idea of picking up birthday supplies only to have the thought intruded by a feminine character, given the inclination that doing such an errand is somehow feminine. often this thought includes an intrusive image of a woman (used to be feminine man during HOCD) , doing said errand, causing distress to the individual.

3. The false belief that you're moving feminine, reacting feminine, argue in a feminine way, and or having a feminine internal/external voice resulting in distress and discomfort for the sufferer. These common cognitive distortions are also very similar to that of an HOCD sufferer, and again not limited to just those distortions but examples of what you may find.

It's clear to note that in cases of people that suffer with TOCD often resemble what is clearly the polar opposite of those who are actually Transgendered men/women.
As men and women who suffer from this theme of OCD often wish to have themselves back to whom they ARE as opposed to wishing to be the opposite sex.

Some analyse their past, there reactions to things, imagine gender bending scenarios, mimicking gender traits to see if they feel right, etc. These are all forms of checking (which is a compulsion)

Some may fear that this is some how a reflection of their subconscious desire or reality, but ones subconscious is merely a collection of events, things, and thoughts you have had within your week and recent years, not a reflection of who you are.
Lastly, OCD is never a true example of logic and reality thus if was ever in your subconscious (a dream) you should not hold any belief that it means anything, as to obsess about something all day ,every day , and then have it prop up in a dream one night is not you subconsciously desiring something, it's your subconscious response to a daily stress.

This applies to all genders, as even those who are transgender may fear turning or that they secretly are cisgender.

Yup this was totally me a while ago.. still happens from time to time where i tihnk something i thought about, dreamt about or did was feminine or an indication of me being a woman secrely..

Theres also the denial fear that ur just naturally feminine but by not wanting to think about it, you are in denial somehow.. thats the worst because by not wanting to inact in these thoughts or feelings, you fear ur repressing your true self and mistake the anxiety for gender dysphoria..

Anyways, a good read!

It's been hell for me man, I really wish I was myself again.. this is insane.
I'm constantly told to accept uncertainty , wtf does that even mean? .. it doesn't stop my mind from automatically questioning $#%^ , or constantly evaluating every little thing I do. A typical mindfk example of what happens in a moment is "your hands look feminine" to "you're walking masculine, are you in denial/repressing?" there's no winning to be frank, and it makes me scared that this is how Trans people become what they are.... I crave certainty but there truly isn't any aside from having had HOCD/POCD/Harm-OCD before this.

Thanksfor posting, I have been having terrible issues with this for the lastfewyearsbut eventually I have decided that I am transgender.

I am just so confused though and most days are a struggle. I even have incest thoguhts about my parents and stuff now

As men and women who suffer from this theme of OCD often wish to have themselves back to whom they ARE as opposed to wishing to be the opposite sex.

This is an interesting quote and I have often expressed a wish that I could stay as a man but now I think I am trans so I dunno what to think about it all anyway.

Maybe I am transwith Generalized Anxiety that looked like OCD, I dunno...

Hi,

I'm suffering from TOCD too. I am a male but I feel female and I even think feminine these days but I never felt like this before and I have been to a qualified NHS Psychologist who has told me that its just my OCD. You may see on other websites that it means you are transgender but trust me you aren't and I don't think I am.

I even now have a fear that I have a desire to dress up and act like a woman and I even think I am naturally acting like a woman. I have told my mum this and she says Im acting normally not feminine at all.

Its just OCD and no you cannot turn transgender. If you have seen you can or about late onset it means they have ALWAYS felt different not just "oh I'm transgender now I feel different". And yes I feel different now too but its just OCD.

Good luck.

Pretty much. I think if you were trans-gendered, you would probably not be worrying about BEING the opposite sex, as much as how hard it is to be the sex you actually are.
