Battles of the Obsessive

Postby 0CDAWARENESS » Tue Aug 19, 2014 1:21 am

I have battled OCD and general anxiety since I was a little girl. However, I did not find out that I had an "anxiety disorder" until I was an adult. A couple of years ago I had what I like to call a "nervous breakdown." I was a COMPLETE mess. I was having panic attacks and intrusive thoughts worse than I ever had before. I was mentally worn out from worrying and constantly obsessing, and I literally thought I was going crazy. I now know that I wasn't going crazy and that intrusive thoughts don't define who I am as a person. However, intrusive thoughts/impulses are something I battle constantly, and they terrify me at times because they are always about ones dearest to my heart. Most of the time I can shake them off and not let them get to me, but the past few days I have really been having a hard time. I hate that I constantly need reassurance, but on days like this I just do.

Thank you for your encouragement, I hope your day got better! Having OCD can be unbearable sometimes, especially when the light at the end of the tunnel seems to be covered in clouds.
