Inositol? Does it help? Anyone tried it?

Postby jewels1981 » Tue May 06, 2014 7:41 pm

I am new to this forum, and have moderate OCD. It has been suggested by a friend (who also has OCD) that I try medication, but I am not a fan of medication as I was on it for several years as a teenager and misdiagnosed. I found Inositol (a supplement) after doing some research online, with a lot of good reviews regarding it's help with OCD. Has anyone tried this or have any comments regarding taking it? Does anyone have any other recommendations of supplements that I can try? I am so done living like this, constantly engulfed in one obsession to the next, I am willing to give anything a try, with prescription medication being the very last possible solution for me. Any advice is appreciated.

I actually bought some Inositol with the thought that it might help. Apparently, you need to take large doses of it daily for it to be of significant help. If I'm not mistaken, somewhere around 20 grams/daily. Ive tried about 1-1.5 grams/daily, but not for an extended period of time. I THINK it might have helped a little bit, but I'm not certain. I would love to try higher doses, but its kind of expensive.

Honestly, I would consult your psychiatrist or doctor about this. But I would say go for it and give it a try.

Hope that help.
