OK im coming here because I dont really know what's going on with me and maybe you guys can help me figure it out. A little history first, because i suspect it may be more of an anxiety issue here.
Ive been diagnosed with OCD for about 18 years now first time it became crippling was with HOCD(homosexual) 10 years later POCD(pedophillia) and ive been going through that for 3 going on for years now. It wasnt til recently that i started feeling ok and the POCD subsided slightly only to bring in more anxietys about other "fetishes" or phillias. I soon started becoming worried i was into beastiality and would check myself if i felt anything down there when was near pets, then that subsided. Now my worry has become i have a fetish for foul smelling objects. i think this came about one day when i was worrying about POCD and smelt a bad odor and coupled them together and tricked my self to think i like it. Now everything i smell that is bad i worry i like it. Its very disgusting to me and strange. then i start doing reasearch and find people like this kind of stuff, its called Olfactophilia. Now where ever i go i am paranoid i like the smell of bad stuff like body odors, trash, public restrooms, even feces etc etc. disgusting stuff
I am now in my thirties and never thought about this til now, i just want to know whats going on.

Hi Ricky,
OCD is an anxiety issue. As I understand it you can't have OCD without an underlying anxiety issue at play.
At any rate, when I read a post with the word "worry" peppered throughout, as well as being generally "paranoid" about this or that, it certainly can be OCD regardless of how odd the thoughts or obsessions are (and believe me, I have had VERY odd ones). You have suffered OCD a L O N G time, have you been treating it all this time - medication or therapy or some homegrown method?
Since you have been diagnosed with OCD and have had it with you all this time, there is no reason to believe that this isn't OCD. But I know how you feel, each time I have been stricken with an episode it feels like something new.
If there are things that are happening which you haven't mention, then those need to be expressed (to a professional) to get closer to an answer/treatment.
good luck -
Otter.
