serious problem with OCD and texting/messaging/snapchatting

Postby Dja427 » Fri Dec 06, 2013 3:16 am

Okay I'm coming here for help cause my friends are getting quite annoyed at me because of this. I have OCD and I feel like I MUST text/message somebody most of the time or else I experience extreme anxiety. I Hate being this way and I want to fix it but IT'S SO HARD!! I can't stop texting all together though cause my friends do need me for things as well.

Are you getting professional support for the OCD already? I guess the thing is, the anxiety is HORRIBLE. But not fatal. So if you can push yourself to just "be with" the anxiety when it kicks in. Watch it working, that OCD bit of your brain trying to get you to text. Give it a name, perhaps. Sort of "make friends" with it. That might help you keep control over the urges.

Even just slowing down the responses might help, over time you will hopefully get better and better at this. And not need to be in contact so much.

I know it's way easier to write than to do. It'll take time. And there are hopefully other ways that a therapist could suggest too, since they'd know you and the situation better.
