Is this possible? These kind of thoughts?

Postby jtm3333 » Thu Nov 21, 2013 12:14 pm

Is it possible for you to have a sudden thought where you imagine a scenario playing out and it feels real? To the point where in the scenario you can almost "hear" the person saying something?

I had a thought come into my head and I heard the person in the thought say "Do whatever you want" in their voice. To clarify I don't mean this in a schizophrenic kind of way. I'm not hearing voices talkign to me, and it's not a hallucination. It's just within my head/thoughts. Almost like a memory.

That's why I am scared. Because it came up while I was worried about something in my past playing out differently than I remember it. This thought suddenly comes up and I can see/envision it happening and even hear the individual say that phrase in their voice. The thing is, as far as I know, taht stuff never happened but it felt so real as I thought it, even "hearing" it if you will, without prompting it. Boom, it just appeared and felt real and now I'm scared.

Is this possible?

I was recently diagnosed, but from what I have experienced and read, it is very possible for these false memories to feel 100% real. I could definitely see your OCD creating something that you greatly fear, but that never happened. In my situation, I have found that the more I dwell on the memory, the more real it seems and the more details I seem to "remember." In all likelihood, it is all false and made up by the brain.
