Redirecting blood flow?

Postby OldCuredDone? » Tue Nov 19, 2013 4:49 pm

Hi :)

I've had OCd for about 9 years, but I've made SO much progress, by cutting down on porn, videogames, caffeine, alcohol, recognizing my symptoms as OCD, improving social life etc..

I have one major problem still though.

I can't get my mind going after I wake up. I have to play my bass guitar or something in order to "wake up" and according to my shrink , this is because my blood flow isn't working. I need to exercise and stuff.
But the only thing that really gets it going, and eliminates all ocd, is when I have tons of stuff to do, in no time, at work.
This makes me sane again.
I have to do a lot, really fast, with out having the time to worry and wonder.
But sometimes I'm to tired, and I just forget all about what I should do and masturbate. After that I'm usually awake. The problem is, that I have to eliminate masturbation, in order to feel good.

So heres my question:
Do anyone know how I could get my blood flowing in the brain, all the time? Or have some tips to get closer to that.

That's great you've come so far! Thanks for sharing your success, it's helpful for lots of us reading the forum. :)

If you have access to a physician or nutritionist, that might be a good idea. Because blood flows round the brain unstoppably. So the slowness might be down to something lacking from the blood. A nutritional component. Maybe you need to eat a banana or chocolate or blueberries or something. [That is a list of random tasty foods. Not recommendations!] Or deal with a hormone imbalance or something.

If you've been sleeping in the same room the whole time you've had this problem. Another possibility is inadequate ventilation. If you're in a room with lower oxygen overnight. That'd make sense that it's hard to "think" much. Before you're up and out of the room and moving around in better ventilated areas. If you have a heater in the room, I'd strongly advise getting it checked over and fitting a carbon monoxide detector. If this is a mental health issue masking an environmental problem, it could be really bad.

Another idea would be more complicated brain work first thing. If you have a smart phone, you could try an app like this- https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... lock&hl=en [Android, but I expect the other kinds have something similar.] Then you could require yourself to get out of bed, scan a QR code stuck on the wardrobe. Then answer a maths question. And so on.

That also helps you track how long you sleep for. Might be worth doing anyway. In case it's as simple as not getting enough sleep in the first place. [If you routinely sleep under 7 hours, that's where I'd start.]

If your bladder will last overnight, you could try a large glass of water before bed. It should give some urgency to getting out of bed first thing. And once you're moving, that might be half the battle won. I wouldn't push this one too far since holding onto urine when you need to pee can cause kidney damage.

All in all. No firm ideas here. Just some ideas about different directions you could consider. :D

More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness.

Thanks for the great reply!
I'm gonna check out some of the options you've listed.

I've discovered, that eating chili powder, once every 24 hours, seems to do the trick! I still sleep a lot and too much, but I'm "awake" mentally most of the time, and I can avoid masturbation much better(actually, today has been complete abstinence).
If I eat to much chili powder, I become extremely horny, making me quite insane, so I have to keep it at a low dose.

I hope someone can benefit from my discovery.

Stay strong fellas! :D
