I have scrupulosity type of OCD for many years and honestly, I find more relief from the obsession when I keep an open mind and by open I mind I mean to question his existence. Why would a belief in something only bring me pain and misery. I'm not trying to persuade anyone to stop following your beliefs, I'm stating my opinion for anyone suffering from this type of OCD. I'm open to all religions and beliefs now and I find them all interesting. I think it really helps to keep an open to everything, at least it helps me in relief to my OCD. Wince,

How long did it take you to recover from your OCD? I have only had it for about 2 months now but it killing me on the inside. Just trying to find ways to cope. I have been Seeing and OCD Specialist but I have only had two sessions. I have read your post, but I just thought I would ask.

Great post. I have a question: my current OCD obsession is (H)OCD but I am also trying to recover from a porn addiction. It's possible that my porn addiction has fed into my OCD and I am wondering if this will affect any ERP or CBT therapy that I receive in treatment?

The relationship between porn and HOCD is very strong. But it is different for each person, and I don't think it would be wise to say that one is the cause of the other (not that you were saying).

Will it affect your therapy? I think it will affect your therapy if you don't bring it up. Some people are too embarrassed, but most therapist have heard it all, and I highly doubt they will be judgmental in a personal way.

Yeah, I would never think that the porn has caused my obsession but it certainly has made an impact on it. I will be sure to remind my CBT therapist that I have a porn problem and discuss my concerns.

Can medication help neutralize these spikes?

Also is this disorder neurologically similar to hypochondria?

And thank you so much for this post- Ive had this since I was 12, but on and off, and this greatly clarified the nature of the situation.
