Hi, water40dog! Did you get tested? What did you find out? I'm sure the doctors will be able to help you, try to be very honest with them.

water40dog: I'm curious, too. Most nights I don't dream. I've been told that's impossible (we always dream) and I've also been told that I have to be dreaming in colour (though I almost NEVER do). Usually people tell me I just am not remembering my dreams. What dreams I do have... let's just say they're not pleasant ones and leave it at that. Non-dreaming was always my preference!

Let's examine the science on the topic of non-dreamers. Do they exist? The answer might be surprising.

Mark Solms- who studies individuals suffering from brain injuries, has claimed that under 'exceptionally rare circumstances', it is possible for someone to lose their ability to dream. Damage to an area of the brain responsible for creating visual imagery, according to Mark, can contribute to either a temporary or complete loss of dreaming. When some brain-injured patients are repeatedly woken up during rapid-eye-movement sleep in a laboratory, they fail to report any dreams. This recent findinng suggests a 're-modeling' of current dream theories. However, nearly everyone dreams, and if you report that you don't, it is probably because you are simply not remembering your dreams.
