When in An Emotionally/Verbally Abusive Household

What I'm dealing with is currently, temporarily once again staying with folks, who can be extremely abusive when one is not submissive and going along with their ways.
*This time I realize I have severe PTSD, and i'm triggered easily, often regarding recent and long-past abuse by the same family members.
But I've not found safe and reasonable other housing as of yet.
SO ....
I have friends if I confide in them, they keep ...

Trying to recover from online bullying

I have been a victim of cyberbullying. Just wondering if anyone has a similar experience and are there some things I could do to feel better? I have a history of depression, social phobia etc and I just got out from an unhealthy online relationship (or whatever you call it. It was extremely unhealthy and destructive).

I talked to this person online on and off for about 2 years. He was mean and verbally abusive ...

Is mind-rape a real thing? Mine feels that way.

And I don't mean this in a joking way, like "Oh, that test raped my mind." I literally feel like I've been violated on a mental level. You see, I have this friend, and we roleplayed a lot. It's how our friendship began, a shared love of a television character and a joking game of I'll race you to him. It became a regular thing, after that. Between the two of us, we created ten ...

What I realised today...

I realised today that I'm currently in a abusive relationship that I do not know how to escape. I'm 24 years old and still living with my parents (depressing I know). I lived on my own for a while but after my landlady threw me out I was forced to move back to my parents house.

My mother is a music teacher and my father is a accountant. The problem is that I sometimes suspect ...

Reality check: I am an abuser

Well this is the last place i thought i would ever post. Im not the type to admit that i am an utter failure. Although it seems a bit obvious. I promised i would never get physical and never stoop to the low insults. I guess it was like one of those childish thing, "if she does it ill show her how it feels too" i didnt want revenge but she always got her revenge ...

Abusive Daughter

I must say I'm coming from the opposite point of view. I feel like I am being abused by my adult daughter, she moved back home to "get on her feet" my husband and I have done everything we can to support her. She is a single mother and our primary goal was to get her through college so she would be able to take care of herself and her daughter and never have to ...

A Classification of Abusive Behaviour?

Abusive conduct is not a uniform, homogeneous phenomenon. It stems and emanates from multiples sources and manifests in a myriad ways. Following are a few useful distinctions which pertain to abuse and could serve as organizing, taxonomical principles (dimensional typologies) in a kind of matrix.

By Sam Vaknin Author of “Malignant Self-love: Narcissism Revisited”

1. Overt vs. Covert abuse

Overt abuse is the open and explicit, easily discernible, clear-cut abuses of another person in any ...

Abusive mother

I know how you feel. My mother seems like a perfectly nice caring women. She studies at Uni to be a teacher. She is an amazing Cub Scout leader. Yeah, shes bloody perfect to the outside world. I'm 15 and I feel like I'm going insane. I have always been told by her to "get thicker skin" or "stop the dramatics". But this is what she is like. I didnt want to light the gas ...

Mothers who emotionally abuse their sons

Hi, I've been lurking on this forum for years, and even posted a few times in the past. This site seems to be the go-to place for mental issues, so I figure I'll get some good responses here.

I want to know how common mother-on-son emotional abuse is.

I was, and still am, a victim of emotional abuse from my mother, who I'm certain has some form of undiagnosed mental disorder. I have to leave ...
